Representative of our favorite washed Kenyan coffees, Gikirima AA is super clean, brimming with bright fruit and citrus, floral and complex. Light body, clean and structured. Perfect for guzzling, but slow down and enjoy this cup as it cools. Highly recommended as a filter coffee. Clean AA Kenyans like the Gikirima do well to age out 14+ days for optimal enjoyment. 100% recommend. -Kevin
Gikirima Factory, located in Embu County on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kenya at altitudes of 1,800-2,000 meters, plays a key role in the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), which supports over 1,200 members and includes four other factories. This washing station, serving farmers on both sides of the Kirinyaga and Embu districts, receives cherry from farmers growing SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 varieties in small coffee gardens under one hectare. Gikirima Factory prioritizes sustainability by treating wastewater in soak pits to protect local waterways and conserving indigenous trees and habitats vital for bird species. Through its sustainable practices and commitment to quality, Gikirima Factory ensures the exceptional processing of coffee cherries delivered by its members.
